About Grit & Grog Clay Co.

The Studio First

Grit & Grog Clay Co. was built as a space for people who want to slow down, work with their hands, and reconnect with their creative side—whether they’ve done pottery before or are just beginning to wonder if they might enjoy it.

This studio is intentionally welcoming, beginner-friendly, and rooted in the belief that creativity doesn’t need to be polished to be meaningful. It just needs space, patience, and a willingness to try.

That philosophy is baked into everything we do here—from one-hour “try it” sessions to long-term memberships.

The Heart of the Studio

At its core, Grit & Grog is about process over perfection.

Clay asks you to be present. It doesn’t reward rushing or control—it rewards attention, adaptability, and persistence. That’s part of why pottery feels so grounding for so many people, especially in a world that constantly demands speed and output.

In this studio, it’s okay to make mistakes. It’s expected. Learning happens at the wheel, with muddy hands and a sense of humor.

Grit & Grog was founded by Katie, a potter, teacher, and lifelong maker who understands firsthand how powerful creative spaces can be.

Like many people who find their way to clay, her journey wasn’t about becoming an artist overnight—it was about finding a practice that felt steady, honest, and restorative. Pottery became a place to focus, to learn, and to build confidence through doing.

This studio grew out of that experience: a desire to create the kind of place she once needed herself—supportive, accessible, and centered on growth rather than gatekeeping.

Built for Community

Grit & Grog is not a production studio or a drop-in craft space. It’s a shared creative home.

People come here to take a class, meet new friends, celebrate milestones, or carve out time for themselves after long days. Members support one another, beginners are encouraged, and everyone is learning—together.

Many of the people who walk through the door don’t arrive calling themselves artists. Over time, that story tends to change.

An Open Invitation

Whether you’re curious about pottery, looking for a creative outlet, or searching for a studio community to grow with, Grit & Grog welcomes you.

You can start small—with a one-hour try-it class—or dive deeper through classes, workshops, or membership. However you begin, you’ll be met with guidance, patience, and a seat at the wheel.
